Dr. Magaziner is Professor and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and Director of the University of Maryland’s Center for Research on Aging. He has been studying outcomes from hip fracture for almost 40 years, examining changes in function, bone and muscle following hip fracture, and the design and implementation of interventions to improve outcomes from hip fractures. He has been continuously funded by the National Institute on Aging since 1983, and has received two consecutive MERIT Awards from the NIA in recognition of his contributions to our understanding of recovery from hip fracture. Dr. Magaziner is past president of the Fragility Fracture Network.
