About

The Global Fragility Fracture Network

The FFN will achieve its vision and mission by supporting colleagues worldwide to turn the Global Call to
Action on Fragility Fractures into actual action in their countries.
The Global Call to Action comprises four ‘Pillars’ of activity:
  • Pillar 1: Acute care

Multidisciplinary care of the acute fracture episode
  • Pillar 2: Rehabilitiation

Excellent rehabilitation to recover function, independence and quality of life, starting immediately.
  • Pillar 3: Secondary prevention

Comprehensive secondary prevention after every fragility fracture, addressing falls risk as well as bone health
  • Pillar 4: Policy

Formation of multidisciplinary national alliances to promote policy change that enables the above three

To implement the Global Call to Action where you work, we encourage you to read the
FFN Clinical and Policy Toolkits.

FFN reached its 10-year anniversary in 2022 and the objectives of the first strategic plan (2017-2021) have been successfully achieved. The new strategic plan for 2022-2026 can be viewed and downloaded here.

The FFN is committed to ensuring that everyone who sustains a fragility fracture during the United Nations-World Health Organization Decade of Healthy Ageing 2021-2030 receives optimal acute care, rehabilitation and secondary fracture prevention.

Our Vision

A world where anybody who sustains a fragility fracture achieves the optimal recovery of independent function and quality of life, with no further fractures.

Our Mission

To optimise globally the multidisciplinary management of the patient with a fragility fracture, including secondary prevention.
