International Osteoporosis Foundation

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) is a registered not-for-profit, non-governmental foundation based in Switzerland. IOF functions as a global alliance of patient societies, research organisations, healthcare professionals and international companies working to promote bone, muscle and joint health.

IOF is leading international efforts in the secondary prevention of fragility fractures. The IOF Capture the Fracture Campaign was the theme of the 2012 IOF World Osteoporosis Day Report. In 2013, the Best Practice Framework was published which provides globally endorsed standards of care for Fracture Liaison Services (FLS). A growing number of FLS feature on IOF’s map of best practice.
